We are currently looking for volunteers to fill the following roles as part of our National Team.

Medical Volunteer

Primary Responsibility: Supporting a group of riders as a qualified medical professional.

Other responsibilities:
  1. Helping with day to day scrapes, cuts and bruises and other minor sicknesses or illnesses.
  2. Ensuring all cyclists are safe to ride, and escalating issues as necessary.
  3. Driving (Mini Van or similar)
  4. Being an ambassador for the Foundation and its cause

Our Medical volunteers have historically been nurses and paramedics. Their caring attitude and ability to handle unexpected situations make them a key part of the National Team.  In addition to their medical responsibilities, Medical volunteers are required to help share the driving hours and assist the team wherever help is needed.

Mechanical Volunteer

Primary Responsibility: Ensuring all bikes are in good working condition and safe to ride

Other Responsibilities:
  1. Repairs, tire replacements and fixing minor to major issues that arise on the road
  2. Putting bikes together and tearing them down at the Start/End of the ride
  3. Driving (Mini Van or similar)
  4. Being an ambassador for the Foundation and its cause

Our Mechanical volunteers are skilled bike mechanics who support a group of approximately 12 riders. In addition to their mechanic skills, they will assist their team by sharing the driving hours and assisting the group wherever necessary.

Massage Volunteer

Primary Responsibility: As an RMT, providing massage therapy to our cyclists to ensure a comfortable ride

Other Responsibilities:
  1. Leading cyclists through stretching and other daily exercises
  2. Driving (RV/motorhome)
  3. Being an ambassador for the Foundation and its cause

Our RMT’s are dedicated to making sure the cyclists can get back on the bike each morning. From sore backs to driving the team in the RV, there isn’t anything these National Volunteers can’t handle.

Driving Volunteer

Primary Responsibility: Assist with the majority of driving for their team

Other Responsibilites:
  1. Photography or video skills a VERY strong asset
  2. Create a welcoming environment in their vehicle and keep it clean and organized
  3. Being an ambassador for the Foundation and its cause

Our drivers help get everyone from point A to B safely. Their team attitiude and great personality helps make everyone feel comfortable, and their driving skills put everyone at east. Be prepared to handle driving a Mini Van full of supplies or an RV full of tired cyclists. Our drivers also assist by taking photos and sending them to Command Central at the CTCACF so we can share the journey with the rest of the country.

We’re also interested in hearing from you if you have time to help at Command Central – the CTCACF offices downtown Toronto before and during the event.  We need help putting the event together and coordinating rest stops across the country. If you have time to spare during business hours from July to August, we’d love to hear from you! Apply to volunteer at volunteer2011.ctcacf.org
